About SetupQatar.com

An independent resource for entrepreneurs navigating Qatar's business formation landscape.

Why we built this

Setting up a business in Qatar is genuinely complicated, and most of the information you find online is either outdated, written by agencies trying to sell you their service, or buried in dense government PDF documents with no plain-language explanation.

SetupQatar.com exists to change that. We publish neutral, regularly-reviewed guides that help entrepreneurs understand their options before they commit to a structure or pay a PRO service. Our goal is to make you an informed buyer, not to replace professional advice, but to make sure you go into any conversation with a clear understanding of what you're getting into.

Qatar's business environment has improved significantly in recent years, government registration fees were slashed by over 90% in mid-2024 (MOCI Ministerial Decision No. 60/2024), 100% foreign ownership is now permitted across approximately 1,000 commercial activities, the QFC cut its application fee by 90% in February 2025, and the Free Zones are attracting genuine international investment. We want to help more entrepreneurs take advantage of these opportunities with their eyes open.

How we keep the lights on

SetupQatar.com is free to use. We generate revenue through:

Directory listings

PRO service providers can apply to be listed in our directory. Featured listings may be paid placements. We maintain editorial independence: paid listings are clearly labelled and we never alter our guide content in exchange for commercial relationships.

Sponsored content

Occasionally, we publish sponsored articles from companies relevant to the Qatar business community. All sponsored content is clearly labelled and does not influence our editorial guides.

We never accept payment to alter our editorial guides or misrepresent information about government processes.

Our editorial standards

Every guide on SetupQatar.com is reviewed against official government sources before publication: MOCI fee schedules, QFC Authority guidelines, QFZA official documentation, and the relevant laws and decrees.

We include a "last updated" date on each guide and flag content that may be outdated. Qatar's regulatory environment changes, we try to keep up with it, but no website is a substitute for direct confirmation with the relevant authority.

If you spot an error or outdated information, please let us know at contactsetupqatar@gmail.com.
